The Artists-in-Education (AIE) Consortium is a unique public/private partnership bringing dynamic, in-depth arts education programs to New Jersey’s schools and teaching artists. In 1998, Arts Horizons and Young Audiences New Jersey partnered with the New Jersey State Council on the Arts to grow and carry out its longstanding Artist-in-Education Program. Since 1971, the AIE Program has been dedicated to helping students and teachers engage in and learn about the creative process through 20+ day residencies taught by highly qualified professional artists.
Our school-day and afterschool residencies honor the creative process by providing conditions needed for insight, imagination, and empathy to occur. Lasting impact is re-enforced through professional development of teachers. For nearly 40 years, AIE has provided hundreds of thousands of New Jersey’s children and educators the opportunity to enrich the world around them in and through the arts.
